On November 27, 1998, the SEGA Dreamcast launched in Japan. Among its launch games was the Yu Suzuki arcade fighter Virtua Fighter 3tb. The original release of this game in Japan came with a bonus disc. On this disc was a short documentary - Project Berkley: The Making of Shenmue.

Featuring an in-depth interview with Shenmue's creator, Yu Suzuki, it was an enticing look at his and AM2's upcoming masterpiece Shenmue.
