44The Freestyle Chess Grand Slam Weissenhaus is the first of five events of the multi-million dollar Freestyle Chess Grand Slam Tour. Each Grand Slam event features 10 participants: the top three of the previous Grand Slam, the top three by classical rating, two organizer wildcards, the winner of a major classical tournament, and the winner of Chess.com's Play-Ins.
Players compete in a rapid round-robin. The top eight players move on to the knockout, while the bottom two get eliminated, and then the players compete in a single-elimination knockout to determine the winner of the event.
The tempo of the games is 10 min + 10 sec / move.
