Capcom's Street Fighter II is probably the most iconic fighting game ever created, adored by fans of the genre and also known by people who are not regular to video games. A true popular icon that has transcended the boundaries of the video game world.

It has been more than 30 years since its release, in 1991, and its legacy is still undefeated. Its legendary roster of fighters (all of them very recognizable and charismatic), its exquisite gameplay, the unforgettable music, its special techniques (such as hadokens or shoryukens), its graphics full of personality... make it a video game that transcends the passing of the years.

Not to mention its stage backgrounds, with meticulous pixel art brimming with color and splendid details, thanks to the know-how and mastery of Capcom's 2D artists.

This video pays tribute to the latter. To those level backgrounds that we have engraved in our minds and hearts. Through a dynamic animation we cover the excellent pixel art work done in this field, with zooms so you do not lose detail, all fighters sprites and accompanied by a montage with the entire soundtrack of the game.

You don't want to miss it!

Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, also called simply Street Fighter 2 or abbreviated SFII, is a 2-dimensional "one vs. one" (1 vs 1) fighting video game created by Capcom in 1991 for its CPS1 arcade board, as a sequel to its previous Street Fighter, which had barely had any impact in the arcades.

It includes 8 characters selectable by the player, a record number for the time, each one of them with their own abilities, weaknesses and fighting styles. Despite having fighters as disparate as a young Chinese girl, a bestialized man, a gigantic Russian fighter or an agile blond playboy, all of them are very balanced and the shortcomings of each are compensated with other skills, such as greater speed against a discrete strength.

Street Fighter II was so successful worldwide that it didn't take long for "pseudo-sequels", or improvements to the original title, to appear, adding characters, punches, speed and animations, such as Street Fighter II Turbo and later ones.

Street Fighter II's last foray into arcades came in 2003 with the limited-time release of Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition.

⚠️ All gameplay recording, game curation and opinions included in this video, as well as editing is completely done by me

Bits & Beats creates videos about the history of video games. In this channel you'll find comparisons, retrospectives, technical analysis, but, mostly, game curations with the idea of having an important task of preserving video games, and make them relevant to society at large.

Curation isn't just about digging up neat games, but it's also about preservation, interpretation, and using one's knowledge to make it relevant to people. With my videos I want older gamers to look back and remember the influence of video games on their lives, and new gamers to understand the larger context of the series they're playing for the first time today.

I put significant time and creative effort into each one of my videos, including research, digging into archives, playing video games and recording hours of footage, selecting specific clips, writing reviews for each title, and making a very careful video editing in the way to transmit both educational and entertaining values to my audience. Every video takes a lot of hours to produce, because I strive to give my audience a consistent, high-quality content.

Fidelity and preservation of the video games is essential in Bits & Beats, so the recordings are made with the highest bitrate quality. It is done this way to preserve original game look and sound through modern footage, with no superfluous additions. I recommend you watch the video at 4K and 60 frames per second to get the best possible viewing experience.

I hope you enjoy my videos and find them useful!
