
The Matrix Awakens - An Unreal Engine 5 Experience
Hey everyone and welcome to a new video of the The Matrix Awakens. This is a game experience made using the new Unreal Engine 5. I would also like to start showing you all some first looks of some games as a new series.
I wanted to shear this with you all because it looks absolutely amazing! The level of detail in this small chunk of experience is mind blowing. The tech demo is giving us a look at the direction gaming could go soon.
We start off with a cinematic sequence filled with characters from the series, the level of detail is amazing. We are also given a look at some of the scenes in the movie like the part where Neo first dodged a bullet many years ago. We then find ourselves in an action scene driving through a city.
We are then shown the character we will be playing as this is a training sim to prepare us for a fight. We now have to fight against agents that are coming after us. Whist Trinity drives we have to shoot tires on cars to stop the Agents. This is a very simple way of shooting as everything locks on but this give us a a chance to see how the car crash and interact with one another. We can see all of the debris flying and hitting the other cars. There are too many Agents for us to keep back and they manage to get onto the car. We kick of the roof knocking them back but they now have a helicopter on our tail.
We manage to knock the helicopter down and now have to shoot its tank to cause an explosion that takes out the bridge and lot of the other agents. This was the main chunk of the tech demo and I am so excited to see what they are able to make next using Unreal Engine 5!
We are now shows some of the different areas of the city and some of the different features including a day night cycle, higher display resolution and even the population AI. We also now are able to walk around the city as our character. Once of the controls we have is to fly around the city, getting a better look at some of the models within the world. We can even see that the rooms on the highest buildings that would never normally be seen have some objects rendered inside.
We also have some settings to play with, we can change things like the sun rotations, crowd level, traffic level and the amount of parked cars. This will allow the performance level to changed based on the amount of models in the world. It has been fun flying around and checking out the skyline. I cant wait to see the future of gaming.
