The Missing Link (OoT Rom Hack) 100% TAS WIP - First Section
7I got interested in doing a TAS of this romhack when I looked into the potential of a new 100% route utilizing access to deku road without bombchus to save massive amounts of time in 100%, since you can also get bombchus there which you can use to megaflip past the gate after a hover off the top of the wooden hole. This saves time because you need to collect a couple items from deku road and deku grove anyways to 100% the parts of the game before it, but normally you have to go through those parts before reaching that area, so there's a lot less backtracking, and early explosives will mean we get HESS's unlocked really early, almost immedietly after this part of it. So I started working on this a couple days ago and here's what I got so far. There's not a lot of items you start off with so its pretty much all about movement, which I happen to be pretty good at. Using a special technique to input more precise angles I also made sure everything was as close as I could get it. I tried timing leaving the heart piece room at 0.5 speed but you get a worse angle for leaving the house, so it ended up being slower than what you see here. TAS'ing the exit of Kokiri Forest was pretty interesting, I had found out earlier that one of the walls was actually a slope that could be climbed pretty easily, as well as that you can actually line link up so that you avoid midos text and still make it to the tree without ever having to change your average movement angle. I also realized, in the movement to the HP room that I could target the house to redirect the sidehop momentum to get there in a really cool way. It didn't save any time and tied with all of my other attempts, but I thought it definitely looked the best.
Note: Next WIP is not coming anytime soon! I can only work on things like this up to maybe 2 or 3 hours each normal day (but way more on breaks), and on top of that there is a part coming up which will require running some an RNG script (which still has to be made and don't know when that'll be ready) for a while to get rupees to spawn acoordingly (have to get the actual 1/8 chance per bluepee spawn and the right angle to hit link so there's multiple factors to get right here). Also sorry for not posting anything for almost half a year or something.
