The Most Controversial Hole In Riggs Vs History - Bandon Trails 14th Hole
Bandon Trails, the third course built at Bandon Dunes completed in 2005 by Coore/Crenshaw. It’s of course called Bandon Trails because, unlike the other courses, it’s more in the pines than on the ocean. I’ve been to Bandon twice; during my second trip, Trails skyrocketed in my rankings. They now stand:
1. Bandon Dunes
2. Bandon Trails
3. Pacific Dunes
4. Old MacDonald
Trails may be what truly rounds out Bandon as the single best golf destination in the world. In about a 3-minute shuttle ride, you can play 4 courses ranked inside the top-70 in the country, and check off a lot of variety boxes while you’re at it. From stunning ocean views atop the cliffs to classic architectural templates to a seaside par-3 course to golf’s best modern architects weaving you through tall Oregon pines, it’s almost unfathomable all this exists in one place.
