The Most DANGEROUS Speedrun Ever Attempted? Polybius (2017)

On July 13, 2019, I began Game #46 of the AVGN Trials of JSR: Polybius, for PlayStation 4. A 120-FPS rail shooter built in honor of the 1981 urban legend, this tough-as-nails game is both incredibly fun... and incredibly unfair and difficult. It's not a bad game at all... but it certainly wasn't intended to be speedrun as an RTA in a single segment.
Since this game is an autoscrolling experience, I decided the best way to "git gud" at the speedrun would be to just play it. But this decision would take me down a road that I will remember VIVIDLY for the rest of my life.
This gauntlet of a game is not only extremely difficult, but the game is chock full of bright, flashing lights, psychedelic imagery, and fast moving objects. The hypnotizing gameplay, combined with the amount of concentration required to beat it, made for a dangerous dose of action that shouldn't be done in a single sitting... but that's exactly what I did.
Join me as I discuss this experience, which took me to the edge of madness, and had me taking shots of liquor on stream, breaking controllers and breaking down in tears and maniacal laughter over this six-plus-hour "speedrun" that drove me to the brink of insanity.
