In Quetta, there was a fearsome legend called the Mum—a creature with the body of a lion and the upper body of a woman. It resided in the dark caves of the Quetta highlands, Pakistan, striking fear into the locals' hearts. Parents warned children to stay indoors after dark, as the Mum was believed to prey on them and steal livestock. There were unexplained disappearances and desecrated graves attributed to the Mum. Witnesses claimed to have seen the creature walking on two legs and heard its terrifying roar. The Mum's legend faded over time, and the sphinx monument that inspired it was destroyed. While the Mum's reign of terror may have ended, its story remains a captivating part of Quetta's past.
