The Sun is back with an all new Challenge Series! It’s the Name Your Rings Challenge. Each episode, the Sun will ask a different ringed planet, dwarf planet, or asteroid to name their rings. This series is a fun, educational minute for the whole family to enjoy! In this episode, Jupiter tries to name his 4 rings. The Halo Ring, Main Ring, Amalthea Gossamer Ring and Thebe Gossamer Ring. This is a bit easier for Jupiter compared to his “Name Your Moon Challenge!” https://youtu.be/S39uLIu2Ibk

Fun Facts about Jupiter’s Rings:
• Did you know: The Main and Halo rings consist of some dust ejected from the moons Metis and Adrastea as the result of high-velocity impacts on their surfaces.
• Jupiter’s Rings were discovered by NASA's Voyager 1 in 1979/1980.
• In visible and near-infrared light, the rings have a reddish color, except the halo ring, which is neutral or blue in color.
