The New Starship Troopers Strategy Game - Terran Command! [AD]
413I'm doing my part! Want to feel old? A quarter of a century ago... the Starship Troopers film released. I remember it being pretty epic and memes of it live on to this day. It had a budget of 100 million dollars. The sequel, which we'll not talk about, had a 7 million dollar budget... This was my introduction to the Starship Troopers universe and it helped me understand the sci-fi genre because I was starting to see parallels between different IPs. Were the the Zerg... Bugs?
In the late 90s I also watched all of Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles, which was a 3D animated TV series that I loved. Maybe because I grew up on 3D series like these... Reboot... Beast Wars... but I recall this series being great with actual emotional beats and interesting character development.
At the turn of the millennium, Starship Troopers: Terran Ascendancy was a tactical squad-based game that I played, at least somewhat and it was good... but I wasn't, so I didn't get very far. I remember it pretty clearly though and when I saw the announcement of this new Starship Troopers: Terran Command I was struck with nostalgia for this universe that I haven't touched in over two decades. I was asking myself two questions:
1. Is this a reboot, remake, or cheap cash grab?
2. Does anyone even still care about Starship Troopers?
Today, we sign up to squash some bugs but an inspection will be happening to see if it's the right kind of bugs.
