DC Comics is creating a new darker alternate universe that will run alongside the main universe. This is DC's attempt at copying Marvel's Ultimate Universe. The new Trinity of this universe have quite the eye opening changes, there is a Superman that was not raised on Earth, a Wonder Woman that's a witch from hell and a Batman that looks like he has been on steroids since he was eight years old.
