Over the last 48 hours, the 2022 NHL All-Star game in Las Vegas, Nevada has quickly come and gone. Though the All-Star game has become an integral fixture in the NHL's yearly calendar and though the league has been hosting the event in some shape or form for nearly 80 years now, the inaugural event back in 1947 wasn't the first time that the best of the best had all come together. In fact, thanks to a tragic on-ice incident and the player's desire to rally around one of their own in his time of need, the first meeting of the league's best and brightest happened roughly 13 years prior in 1934!

So what happened during this initial contest? What events led to its creation, why was it held and how did it all play out? Well in today's video, let's take a trip down memory lane and find out!
