The Nightmare Comparison: Vanilla Doom/Doom 2 vs. BFG Edition Doom/Doom 2
Something I noticed a while back but finally just decided to display.
The differences between "The Ultimate Doom" and "Doom II: Hell on Earth" in their original v1.9 forms, vs. the same games from their "Doom 3: BFG Edition" forms.
Imp fireballs are normal speed as opposed to 50% faster (which would also apply to the Cacodemon).
Hell Knight fireballs are normal speed as opposed to 33% faster (this applies to the Baron of Hell as well).
Demons and Specters move and attack at normal speed as opposed to twice as fast.
This is a significant change to the difficulty of Nightmare!, as it was meant to be extremely tough. Slower fireballs and slower moving/attacking Demons/Specters mean that you don't have to react nearly as quickly. No word yet as to why these changes were made.
