The not-so known "Dancing With Myself" original version
3"Dancing with myself", a hugely popular song by Billy Idol, was originally released by punk rock band Gen X in October 1980.
While both versions are essentially the same, they do have some differences from each other when it comes to mixing and production.
The Gen-X's original version is more punk rock oriented (with louder rhythm guitar in the mix, as well as heavier).
While Billy Idol's remix is more pop rock oriented, lowering the volume of the rhythm guitar, it itself with less distortion and in certain parts replacing it with the song's characteristic guitar line.
