Update September 2019: Since the Ouya support has ended, functionality of this device has been severely limited. My opinion on the device has altered since.

------------------------------------
Recently I have been using my Ouya again, especially since I have been playing around with Android X86 and Lakka on two small form factor PCs to turn them into (retro)gaming machines. The Ouya was one of the most successful crowd-funded projects ever back in the day.

I was a backer and I quickly went through 3 consoles because of hardware / user issues. Eventually the system(s) got better - a second batch was released and most of the hardware issues vanished.

The one remaining thing is the lag that can occur when you use Wifi on the Ouya. The Ouya uses the same chipset/antenna for Wifi as well as Bluetooth and it really can't do both at the same time. Turning off Wifi and hooking the Ouya up over wired ethernet takes care of the most of the lag.

Wouter - aka the Highlander - recently saw my Ouya and ended up getting one second hand himself. His verdict on the system is fair although perhaps drawn a little too soon after only seeing snips of the Ouya's capabilities. His video can be found here:

This video will show off some of the games and the emulation capabilities in greater detail - and being quite lengthy at that.

So after watching this? Can you answer the question? Is the Ouya an Ancient Relic from the Past or is it (still) a cool little console?
