The board game Pandemic is almost the perfect game. But it got one rule really really wrong. And that’s why nobody uses it. The rule is that you must “Shuffle the role cards and deal 1 face up in front of each player.” Everyone I know or who I’ve ever played with, simply chooses the role they want to play. Why would anyone want to play as a character for an entire game, when they don’t like the power? Is it to increase the replayability of the game by forcing you out of your comfort zone? Or is it so that someone doesn’t annoyingly always play as the medic when everyone wants that role? Either way, it spoils the game. It’s much more fun to choose your player card.
