Chess Opening: King's Indian Defense in 60 Seconds (Sämisch Variation)
I always used to prefer playing as white in chess until I learned the King’s Indian defense opening for Black. In 60 seconds, here’s what it is: The main intention of this opening is to allow white control of the center with its pawns. But don’t worry, you’ll challenge that later on. Like all openings, there are many variations, so I’ll show you the Sämisch variation which is the main challenge to the King’s Indian Defense.
If white leads with the Queen’s pawn to d4, you can open with knight to f6. We’ll assume they play bishop’s pawn to c4, and you respond by developing your pawn to g6. They may move knight to c3, you develop your bishop to g7. If they claim the center fully with pawn to e4, which would threaten your knight in a subsequent move, then you prevent them from doing a pawn push by moving your Queen’s pawn to d6. Logically, they might move knight to f3, which is where we castle. From here, the game will unfold in any number of ways, but that’s how you open with the King’s Indian Defense as black, so that’s why……
