Harrow County began life as a comic, and to paraphrase poorly, a witch named Hester was hung at a tree driven by fearful villagers. Some time later, a baby appeared at the trunk, and though she was taken in by the villagers, she was treated with concern – what if she was Hester reincarnated?
Instead, Emmy – though she had an unnerving ability around the haints of the town – loved Harrow County, and alongside a bunch of misfits, became it's protector against the Family, the family members of Hester out to destroy the village for revenge.
The game begins as a two player, asymmetrical game, with Protectors vs Family, and is divided into chapters. Each chapter introduces a little more, allowing you to learn confidently, and play seemingly different games each time. By the time you reach the end of the rulebook however, you'll have the option for a third player to join in – Hester, herself.
There are some incredibly thematic pieces and choices within this game, that make it really stand out. We take a look at the components, how they contribute to the game, and just a few of those cool little methods that add to the excitement of the overall game.
