Marvel Rivals is out and I’m not gonna hide the fact I’ve been loving it.
I wasn’t really a part of the big Overwatch craze back in the day. I liked the original Overwatch, specifically I played the hell out of Reinhardt, but after the switch to OW2 I fell out of it entirely since I could see the warning signs of what was to come a mile away.
So to have something that fills the same place in terms of gameplay and isn’t made by an inherently evil company, AND with characters I actually enjoy and care about was really nice to see.
So I decided to throw my hat in the ring while the topic is still fresh and fun and pitch my ideas for characters that should be added. Now this isn’t exactly an original concept, plenty of videos like this already exist, but I’m doing a slightly different take on it by ONLY pitching villains.
As much as I love Marvel Rivals diverse roster, it’s really lacking in straight up villains. Most of the quote unquote “villains” are more on the anti heroes end of the spectrum at worst, with the most EVIL character in the roster right now being Hela. And also Jeff.
So I figured it’d come up with the basic ideas for a handful of villains. Now I could’ve done the lazy route and just pick villains like Green Goblin, Thanos, Doctor Doom, etc cause these are less cases of IF they’re gonna get in and just WHEN are they gonna get in.
Seriously there is no way this game ends without a playable Green Goblin, come on, so the villains I’m pitching here are gonna be the ones I don’t think are IMMEDIATELY obvious picks.
I should give a bit of a notice to temper your expectations going in, growing up I didn’t really have much for comic books to read, so most of my knowledge from these characters came from the few games I had, the cartoons I watched and the movies. But dw I’m not a blind MCU stan, and none of the villains I talk about today are gonna pull from the MCU, this is a safe space.
I have been recently getting into the comics scene to make up for lost time, notably with the amazing Gail Simone’s Uncanny X-Men, the wonderful Jonathan Hickman’s Ultimate Spider-Man, and even going back and reading the OG Fantastic Four books. Seriously, I’ve been reading those ones with my friends and they are wild, they put my boy Johnny into the asbestos room, GET HIM OUT OF THERE.
