The Quarry is an interactive drama horror video game developed by Supermassive Games and published by 2K Games. It is the spiritual successor to Until Dawn and was released for Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X and Series S.
Laura Kearney and Max Brinly drive to Upstate New York during the middle of the night to visit Hackett's Quarry Summer Camp, where the two have been hired as camp counselors. Their car almost hits an unknown creature, causing the two to swerve off the road and crash. While Max fixes the car, Laura explores the nearby woods and hears voices that call out to someone named Silas. Panicking, she flees and returns to Max; the local county sheriff Travis Hackett finds their car and becomes suspicious of their situation. Travis orders Laura and Max to stay the night at a motel near Hackett's Quarry, but the two disregard his orders and drive to the camp. In it, they find somebody in the basement and try to help, but Max gets bitten in the process. Travis arrives at the camp, sedates Laura, and shoots the creature that wounded Max.
Two months later, seven camp counselors—Abigail Blyg, Dylan Lenivy, Emma Mountebank, Jacob Custos, Kaitlyn Ka, Nick Furcillo, and Ryan Erzahler—prepare to leave Hackett's Quarry but become stranded because their vehicle was sabotaged. The camp owner Chris Hackett asks them to lock themselves in a lodge and leaves, telling them that he will try finding help. The group decides to instead throw a bonfire party and play the game "Truth or Dare" during nighttime. As part of the game, some counselors kiss each other. Ryan can be dared to kiss Dylan or Kaitlyn; Emma is dared to kiss Jacob, her ex-boyfriend, or Nick, Abigail's love interest. Emma chooses Nick, prompting Abigail and Jacob to run into the woods, jealous. Emma runs after Jacob, and Nick runs after Abigail.
Throughout the night, two figures named Jedediah and Bobby stalk and hunt the counselors. Emma finds Jacob, sitting and crying, by the Hackett's Quarry lake. To calm him down, she invites him for a swim, to which he agrees. Abigail and Nick find each other in the woods, an unknown creature bites Nick, and Abigail sprints towards the others while screaming for help. Jacob hears her screams and runs towards the woods to save her, leaving Emma to stay on an island in the middle of the lake. Dylan, Kaitlyn, and Ryan find Abigail and agree to rescue Nick. They take him to the camp lodge to recover. Dylan and Ryan head for the camp's public address system to signal for outside help, after which they, Abigail, Kaitlyn, and Nick take refuge in a poolhouse. Nick's condition begins to worsen, which culminates in his transformation into a werewolf. Now transformed, he forcefully exits the lodge.
Laura enters the poolhouse and meets with Dylan, Kaitlyn, and Ryan. She tells them that Travis Hackett had imprisoned her and Max for two months, during which they learned about a werewolf curse that spreads through bites. Laura also reveals that Chris Hackett, Travis' brother, is cursed to become a werewolf every full moon and that he is responsible for why Nick and Max transformed into werewolves as well. She wants to kill Chris Hackett, which would free everyone else from the curse; Laura requests Ryan's help for the mission. Although reluctant at first, he agrees to come with her.
At the Hackett residence, further into the woods, the matriarch Constance berates Travis for failing to protect their family members: three of whom, including Chris, transformed into a werewolf. It is revealed that Jedediah is the family patriarch, with Bobby, Chris, and Travis as their three sons. While traveling to the residence, Laura talks to Ryan about a bite she acquired from Max, and they learn more about the Hackett family's history. They eavesdrop on the conversation between Constance and Travis—the Hacketts catch them in the act, and a fight ensues. During the commotion, Chris attacks his family members, Laura, and Ryan; and Laura transforms into a werewolf.
