The head of the British Army, General Sir Patrick Sanders, has paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II and said the former Commander-in-Chief was the "Army’s mother and commanded unique respect".

The Chief of the General Staff said Her Majesty showed "unwavering devotion to her Army".
