The Sandbox MMORPG Problem - Designed To Fail
Sandbox MMORPGs are open world, but there is a huge problem with Sandbox MMORPG design. They are immersive, hardcore experiences and usually feature open world pvp, little quests or structure and cater to a very niche MMORPG audience. Lots of these sandbox MMOs are either facing development problems or struggling to grow out their very small playerbase.
I just wanted to cover my thoughts on why so many sandbox MMOs are failing or seeing a decline in players. These are all just my thoughts, but I'd love to hear what other people think. What do you think are the issues with sandbox MMORPGs, or are they perfectly fine?
