In certain circumstances you can continue playing the game even at 0 health. This has a few odd side effects that might even be helpful for speedruns.

0:00 - I originally stumbled upon this glitch by a total accident. I was trying to do something unrelated with the fire, but accidentally got killed. For some reason the game over never started, and Mathayus just got back up afterwards as if nothing had happened. The fire particle effect of his smoldering corpse also remained hovering in the room.

0:33 - until you leave the room where the glitch starts in, Mathayus will be invulnerable to subsequent damage and he can also walk inside object collision. However, he now has one drastic weakness, which is that he will mysteriously die upon landing from any height.

(If you leave the current room, you remain at 0 HP, but can no longer walk inside object collision, and any subsequent damage immediately causes a game over.)

1:01 - you can even walk through doors in this state, but unfortunately this isn't too helpful. The level design doesn't have traditional loading zones; instead, you have door objects that you must activate to move between various areas.

(Not on the video: rarely, it's possible to go fully out of bounds from behind a doorway like this. The level design is so streamlined that going out of bounds probably won't be too helpful, though. Falling down under the map just causes a game over.)

1:17 - I later found a way to start this glitch at will by dying while moving between rooms. The timing for doing this is mildly tricky, and since you immediately change rooms after dying, you never get to experience the full effect of the glitch either.

1:37 - so, how does combat work at 0 health? Surprisingly enough, it has a major benefit, since almost all enemies ignore you while you're a "zombie". This glitch trivializes most combat, although it can also slow it down since none of the enemies chase after you, forcing you to run around some more.

2:07 - however, archers are one exception, as they will continue using you as target practice even if you lack vitals. If you get hit by a single arrow or even try to block one (since blocking also causes chip damage), you die instantly. This might be the single biggest obstacle to using this tactic in speedruns, since it might not be possible to deal with archers without taking damage, and they seem to be a fairly common enemy type.

(Not on the vid: if you save and reload at 0 health, you start again with full health and the glitch is no longer active.)

(Note: as could be seen early on in the video, it is possible to jump and survive with 0 health, but you have to use the downsmash attack to survive the landing.)
