Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate - Battle of Hefei in 33.50
Team: Hundun, Liu Shan, Dong Zhuo
That fateful day when an out-of-control Red Hare ran over Susano'o.
This is quite a simple level where you only need to defeat Susano'o to win, and the route to him is accessible right from the start. No infinite jump required, which is good since the front side of the fortress where he is situated has a rather high invisible wall.
This is a small improvement over SunsaintDC's previous run of this stage that used Benkei for navigation. Strangely enough, Benkei doesn't work consistently at all in this level on my version of the game. There's probably a bit of version-specific stuff going on with the background lag. Instead, I decided to use the horse boosting strategy, which in the end yielded a small time save.
If you have three Thrift-characters (plus the item that allows you to regenerate musou passively), you can endlessly spam musou on horse to go everywhere very quick.
0:09 - It's possible to get a speed buff from defeating Equuelus (or other enemies), which should in theory help you get through the level even faster. I can't really say for sure, since I didn't notice a huge difference in the final time regardless if I got the speed buff or not. Does only the regular running animation benefit from a speed up? Should be tested at some point.
0:26 - I run a few steps normally at this point to position the horse slightly better for the final two boosts.
0:32 - it's very inconsistent but possible to clip past the ledge at the top of the wall and immediately appear at ground level instead of having to fall down. Getting this is necessary for the fastest times.
I end up close enough to Susano'o that he begins running towards me before the final boost. This also shaves off a few milliseconds off the run. It would be brilliant if you could just barely finish the level without the final horse boost, but so far it seems too precise to be possible.
I considered using melee attacks on Susano'o as well, but from another attempt I found out that you'd need two regular swings with Hundun to defeat him, and that might not be as fast or consistent as just a normal horse boost.
As for alternative routes through the level... well, you could maybe use angled glitch to go inside the garrison quickly from the front. Not sure if it would be faster, though.
