The Second (Sculk) Farm is Always Better - Talon's Oasis - Ep 95
4The walls of the space base sit unfinished. We need a better sculk farm and today we're gonna make one. I'll be attempting to make my own design (probably will be inefficient lol) and I'm going to make some mistakes along the way. Should be fun!
Extra Stuff:
- If you're wondering why I used the wall plus observer instead of the redstone torch version of the smart piston, the answer is mostly because of space constraints (wall and observer is more flexible), but also because the torch does not constantly update the piston if things get clogged. And that's no better than the observer for getting the system restarted.
- So I tried a bunch of different things to kill the skeletons while keeping the floor transformable and the main conclusion was anything that was a half block prevented transformation of the stone beneath (think campfires, dripstone, wither roses) and anything that was a full block had the same issue as the block we ended up using. I even tried using sculk sensors to hold up the lava in the hopes that it would spread through the sensor to the stone underneath, but even that didn't work.
- I realized after recording the reason the downward spreading was so much faster than the upward was not because of the barrier blocks, but because the transformation effect starts at the entity's feet meaning the ground is a lot closer than the ceiling meaning it's less distance to travel downwards than it is to travel upwards, which makes a lot more sense than the barriers blocking it only some of the time.
