The Sephiroth Blade Dash
Disadvantage is rough as Sephiroth, man. This tech with Blade Dash is a great way to relieve pressure off platforms and is very unique to Sephiroth. Whereas on platforms, usually, your options are limited to holding shield, jumping OOS (Out Of Sheild), rolling, running off the platform or trying to fall through, this can either be an aggressive option or a great way to quickly get back to neutral.
Some things to note:
- In order to perform the unreactable ver. or the fastest way, where you barely (jump) rise above the platform in order to Blade Dash through, I've noticed having a shoulder button set to jump is easiest. You want to input the Blade Dash immediately after the jump squat animation ends in order to cancel it. It should look like you barely left the ground. This way the game registers Sephiroth as "in the air" and you can then Blade Dash through the platform.
- The fully charged Octaslash ver. is either a hard punish once you've taken your opponents' jump or rare mix-up.
- The" Bonus Tech" example shown at the end from Nairo's stream, is wild. Let go of the special button and hold the direction you were going after inputting Blade Dash with the analog. Personally, I've only been able to hit opponents, at times, at a similar angle to the one shown. A horizontal angle is much easier to hit the opponent and pop them up with this. Additionally, the opponent has to be close to ledge which they rarely are cause Octoslash is terrifying.
