With certain input, you're able to use Contact or Implement as you start to move. Any text box you open doing this can now become overlapped by other dialogue and events, potentially causing new glitch effects.

On PS4 the input for doing this is basically (with 'movement' active) hold quick select and press (direction) and triangle at same time. Or for Implements, it's (direction) and X at same time.

When turning or moving very short ways it's not possible to activate Contact or Implement after moving and before arriving at destination. In cases like this it's possible to buffer Contact or Implement so that it automatically begins when you press triangle or X (respectively). To do this, press X and triangle at same time in Contact-menu or X and O at same time in Implement-menu.

Whenever you close the text box from Contact or Implement, you can regain control during times when you're not intended to, for instance during the titles when arriving at a new area or long cutscenes.

Even if you interrupt a cutscene by regaining control, you can often continue progressing it with X. Leaving a previous cutscene unfinished when entering a new cutscene continues the overlap glitch, so it can persist between areas and dialogues this way.

1:43 - in some cases turning after regaining control inside a cutscene will restart the cutscene. This may cause additional mayhem, as seen in this clip.

(Not on the video: I tried restarting this cutscene around the time the game moves to the next area. You will then watch the cutscene in 3 Monkeys area, after which you get softlocked. It seems there's no possibility to use this trick for time saving purposes in this location at least.)

2:49 - a funny graphical side effect where Sumio's portrait remained very small after starting the glitch.

3:01 - sometimes using a Contact-point can end an existing overlap glitch.

(It's also not possible to start this glitch when moving into certain doorways and cutscenes for some reason.

And of course, in levels where you don't have anyone to Contact or useful items to Implement near cutscenes, it's not possible to use this glitch.)
