The Sunken Cell Stronghold - Anthem - Ep. 22 - More Dominion & More Puzzles
Welcome to Mythkiller Productions! As always I will be your host, SiriMythkiller, as I ran through the new Stronghold released this week in Anthem! I was apprehensive going in but this one turned out to be a lot of fun!
I started by talking to Sev, the Corvus agent that hangs out in the bar. Unfortunately, he only wanted to talk about the Scar stronghold, so I didn’t have any idea what I was getting into. The Sunken Cell turned out to be an experimental facility of Dr. Harken, the crazy scientist that caused the Heart Of Rage Cataclysm! Turns out, some of those experiments were running amok. Also, the Dominion have decided to keep going with their research on controlling the Anthem and had opened the place up again. As usual, my job was to go in a clean it up!
It had been a few days since I had played so there was a few minutes of readjustment. But my team got lucky and the first section glitched so no enemies appeared while we disabled the flight disabler. The second area had a small puzzle that I missed because I was too busy playing with the elementals that spawned. This stronghold requires a high elemental resistance to just about anything. It also requires a good sense of direction, something I don’t have.
Anyway, the third stage was less of a puzzle and more of a time element. The rods around the Relic had to all be pushed down pretty quickly or they would start to rise again. Nothing major happened in that room so we went back to the water pipe to head upwards again. A bit of a dust up with the Dominion and we cleared the first stage of the stronghold!
We moved on to a new puzzle which was similar to the spinning puzzles in the final Dax mission. The same symbol had to be locked in on all four rings. This sounds easy, but Brutes spawn in continuously until the puzzle is solved. Unless the three who are NOT doing the puzzle stay on top of the problem, the Brutes will overpower the solver VERY quickly. After a quick flight through lines of electricity and another scuffle with the Dominion, we polished off the second stage!
The final “puzzle” was a giant room filled with turrets and echoes. Twelve are needed to open the door. This led into an equally giant colosseum inhabited by a giant, angry Fury! This is probably my favorite boss fight even though my usual javelin, the Interceptor, is pretty useless because The Unfathomed has a one-hit-kill melee attack. Storms and Rangers will probably have the easiest time assuming they have enough health and shield to withstand the Fury’s long range attacks. The missile orbs are a bit of a challenge, but well timed dodges should make that portion a piece of cake.
Overall, a really great addition to the Strongholds already in place! I loved the extra puzzles and shorter skirmishes and the boss is just plain FUN to fight!
