Rexxar's quest "The Trail's Gone Cold" leads you to a Fishing Hut in Borean Tundra. Find three notes using your torch and idol:
Inside the hut
Left of the hut (use Torch of Pyrreth)
By a bush right of the hut
Ignore distracting wisps.

The notes hint at a humid place with purple crystals. This leads to the Glimmering Pillar in Sholazar Basin, where you'll find a telescope.

The telescope points to Balagarde Fortress in Icecrown. There, you'll discover Scrapes's corpse.

Summon Rexxar with your Spirit's Whistle. He suspects a shapeshifter killed Scrapes and leaves to inform Alyx. The quest continues the next day.
