The Tremendous Evolution of Path Of Exile 1
Path of Exile 1 changed the action roleplaying game genre forever. Even though the aRPG began as a dinky revamp of Diablo II created by a team of three, it withstood the test of time, struggles of indie game development, and masses of avid gamers rushing to its metaphorical shores.
Over the past decade, Grinding Gear Games has released thirty-three expansions for PoE 1 since its release on October 23, 2013. With it being the time to give thanks, I thought we could take a deep look at Path of Exile's first decade just before its latest expansion, Path of Exile 3.23: Affliction, drops.
In preparation, I watched every PoE trailer, read every patch note, and scoured Reddit for cool tidbits of lore about Path of Exile. It culminated in this video and cemented realization: Too few people state this: GGG is the best game development company out there. We're lucky to have them building our favorite game to love and, for some of us exiles, hate.
