Scott Aaronson is one of the top quantum complexity theorists in the world, renowned for both his research in quantum computing and computational complexity theory. Aaronson is famous for his popular blog Shtetl Optimized, which has kept the scientific community up to date on quantum hype for nearly the past two decades. His research and popular writing have earned him numerous awards, including the United States Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers and the Alan T. Waterman Award. Aaronson is an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT, but took leave of his academic commitments in 2022 to work at OpenAI.
