Ubisoft, in response to questions about deleting user accounts inactive for six months, stated that it aligns its account deletion process with the GDPR's data retention requirements. The company considers four criteria before deleting an account: gaming activity since account creation, account libraries (accounts with purchased PC games are not deletion-eligible), duration of inactivity (accounts have never been deleted for less than 4 years of inactivity), and existence of an active subscription. Prior to permanent deletion, Ubisoft sends three emails over 30 days offering account restoration. If a user tries to log in within this period, they receive a warning and a reactivation link.

Despite several large YouTubers making videos about this, Luke has to break down why this news was based on misunderstanding and overreaction.
