Snakes are an interesting bunch. They are tetrapods despite lacking legs. To live as a muscle tube, they have had to adapt their bodies to work around that lack of limbs. It makes them extremely bizarre all the way down to the skeletal level. Some are frightening, others are just plain ugly, yet more are some of the cutest, chilliest, most boopable reptiles you will ever meet. Let’s peel back the layers and take a look at the bones of snakes and see why it is that they are way weirder than we give them credit for.
