This video showcases a proof of concept for a snake or train like modular drone. Each piece is separated by a hinge and is able to detach from the head. It's not that hard to add or remove new sections to this drone.
The head piece contains the drone brain. At the front of the drone, there are a couple of laser beams and guns which are used to cut through the terrain and kill enemies. There are a few laser beams that sweep back and forth on the side of the drone. This was to see how effective weapons were on these motorized hinges.
The next 2 sections contain a few guns on a motorized hinge. These motorized hinges are inside the drone instead of outside, which is where I normally place them.
The tail is a drone that automatically drill down to the core and destroys it. The tail is able to keep itself upright and can defend itself from enemies.
I'm fairly happy with this build, but there are a couple of things that I want to change and improve on. I'm not to happy with the 2 mid sections of the craft, but luckily this drone is modular so it isn't hard to change sections. I'd also like this drone to keep itself afloat a bit better, right now it feels to heavy. Adding in a sensor and some thrusters will easily fix this.
Please be aware that this is a pre-alpha version of Nimbatus, so there might be bugs and things might change during development.
