When I heard Stephanie Hsu was going to be the voice of Vontra, I knew I really wanted to get at least one shot of her in before the end of the film. Huge thank you to Brendan Kirschbaum who dev’d this idea and basically gave me all the keys to how to push this shot to its max!
These shots were probably the most technical shots I’d ever animated up until then… with each piece that falls off being hand-animated and tracked on screen. The first shot in particular was a beast of a technical challenge to animate- getting the legs to hit the right poses with several layers of sculptors on top was not easy.
