Geralt discovers a wrecked wagon northwest of Blandare with a cyclops nearby. After killing the cyclops, he follows the trail of blood into the woods and kills a group of nekkers and a ghoul. Not far off is a woman's corpse with a letter addressed to Yanne, the blacksmith at Kaer Trolde.
Geralt brings the letter to him but can choose not to reveal how he got the letter, which causes a misunderstanding and Yanne refuses to do business with Geralt. If the truth is told, Yanne is grateful but must stop doing business temporarily to mourn.
