We resume in the quarry, and with a little bit of struggle, make our way through the rest of it. It is interesting what I can see when editing my videos however. The puzzle that had me stumped for a little while could have been solved faster and easier than the way I had done it. It's a shame that I didn't see it at the time.
After the quarry, our laser in the area is halfway unlocked. The other half requires us to figure out the boathouse. It turns out that it truly is a boathouse, because we solve a puzzle to cause a boat to emerge. Unfortunately, it is the only puzzle we can solve here for now, as we need to learn how the other puzzles in the area work first. That's fine, we have another set of puzzles that we started in the woods.
It turns out these wood puzzles have us playing with shadows. First, we are trying to avoid the shadows of branches. Then they start throwing in shadows of bars to try to mix things up, but those are okay to cross. Then they start casting a portion of the puzzle onto other surfaces nearby that we have to follow. All using shadows. We start running into complications once the angles of the shadows start to do weird things, but we manage to open up half of the gate to yet another laser.
The shadow puzzles split off, and the other half of the door consists of fewer, and much easier puzzles to solve. In this case, we just loosely follow the paths of the branches. The only complication is a broken branch, which we quickly figure out. The truly fun part of it was when we go to solve the puzzle for the laser, and have to use both following and avoiding shadows in the same puzzle. While not difficult, it was a nice mix of both.
After this we set off to a castle and some hedge maze puzzles. So far each has had a slightly different dynamic, but in general, we have to actually walk through the maze, and then solve it. Pretty neat.
