The Year of VR Has a Problem! | ft PS4 Gameplay in Virtual Reality (RANT) | Shotana Shocase
HTC Vive is How Much?! NSFW
So yeah the Rift was announced to be $600, and now the HTC Vive has been revealed to be $799.
800 DOLLARS!!! Ah crap, looks like VR is only going to attract the rich, and leave the little guy out to dry. Cause I mean 800 dollars sounds like someone's whole monthly paycheck! But if you really are adamant about experiencing Virtual Reality, there are other ways. VR does not have to be so expensive in fact there are tons of options out there that are just as good, well almost.
Smartphones can become VR headsets with the help of adapters and helmets, and thanks to some programs, you can even play games with them.
In this video I even manage to play my PS4 with such a device, and with the help of an app called Trinius. PS4 Remote Play in Virtual Reality on my android. I also believe it is running at 720p. I should review this sometime down the line.
Yes it does suck that retail headsets still seem unattainable to some, but its only the beginning. Soon this will become a standard and hopefully they will become more affordable in the coming years. Its the year of the VR and it won't be the last!

UPDATE: Vive has sold 15,000 units in minutes. Well I am happy to see the demand is there, now lets hope it launches smoothly.
Here is to the beginning of an era!
Also
Playstation VR just got announced for an October Release date and $399 Price tag.
Whoo!
Also side note:
I know that the Vive comes with two special controllers. An oversight on my part, I should have researched more thoroughly.
My bad.
