TheLatest.TV- Brighton Lights Episode 8
The sun is out. I'm in a seafront café. There's pretty people everywhere and tonight I've got a fabulous party to go to, darling. A hedonist's dream and today the most beautiful place on earth. No wonder the Prince Regent commissioned John Nash to build the pleasure palace The Royal Pavilion. Brighton's "wedding cake mansions host parties that last all night, but like me they crack and peel in the cruel daylight." Pleasure is transient and is the subject of our film of Clare Twomey's installation of black ceramic butterflies A Dark Day In Paradise at The Royal Pavilion. Our cameras capture beautiful but threatening images of the butterflies in this week's Brighton Lights. Val Aviv also presents Brighton band Your Garden Day's amazing weekend at Glastonbury Festival, Matt Whistler investigates the Lewes Road Community Garden and music from Yokoko.
