The 10th edition of Arcade Appreciation! And do I have something special in store for all of you: Area 51, Atari's classic light gun shooter! You used to see this game pretty much everywhere back in the 90's, so it's only fair that I show y'all one of the great classics. Well, classic to me at least.
Area 51, as the name implies, is set on the super secret American Base Area 51, where a crash-landed alien space craft carrying The KRONN were on board. They seem to have overtaken the base and infected staff with a virus that turns them into their zombie soldiers. Enter STAAR, whose task it is to barge into the place and solve the problem as only they can: Blasting every alien and nuking the base via its self-destruct mechanism.
Up to two players can play cooperatively, and there's *TONS* of secrets stashed in the game, from ammo crate boxes housing power ups to specific background objects and people (wait, really?) to trigger secret rooms and even a secret mode. And staying true to Area 51's fetish for secrets there's a secret in this video as well. Can you find it? Shouldn't be too hard. As a hint, keep annotations on.
