Things From The Flood: Angry Robots, Talking Teddy Bears & Privatisation
This video is about the Simon Stahlenhag book 'Things From The Flood', the sequel to 'Tales From The Loop'.
'Things From The Flood' is a fascinating collection of artworks, and narrative prose that decribes a fictional childhood in an alternate history, where the world took some different paths, unlocking floating ships, sentient robots and teleportation technology.
But where 'Tales From The Loop' explored rural sweden in the 80's, and at the start of an economic and political decline, 'Things From The Flood' takes us into the 90's and into a world of commercialisation and privatisaion.
The author weaves a world of wonder, fantasy and...to some degree...dread.
Join me as we explore the robots that refuse to be told what to do, the toys that just want to live, and find out what happens when you leave the most powerful facility in the world in the hands of the Free Market's lowest bidder.
