Things Only Adults Notice In Sharkboy And Lavagirl
1,100Sharkboy and Lavagirl is a weird movie, especially in hindsight. The 5th flick in a beloved kids franchise, the Spy Kids series, Sharkboy/Lavagirl is different in every way than the films that preceded it. It also made less at the box office and earned mixed reviews for reasons that were new to the series. On the other hand, it's a much beloved movie to this day, it launched the career of a superstar, and it has enough goodwill to have earned a sequel (Netflix's successful We Can Be Heroes from 2020). Looking back at the film today, there are some notable and confusing weaknesses, but its charms are still on full display. These are things only adults notice in Sharkboy and Lavagirl.
