4This is thinkingParticles 6.2 (Subscription Drop 2). In this video we discuss the new feature for direct particle rendering (dpr).
- not much choices for dpr in 3ds Max
- SD2 thinkingParticles 6 finally a volumetric particle renderer.
- allows dpr of atmospheric effect as volumetric effect
- setup: dummie obj moves thru particels + wind force for galaxy swirl; centre of the galaxy is shown as 'hotter' than the outer swirls.
- this effect is achieved by measuring to the distance of the dummie object we move around.
- nice temperature fall off through the swirls.
- creating the setup 1:18
- feed in initial temperature - assign forces for swirl effect - not fluid system but a plain vanilla particle effect
- cool down effect by measuring the distance from the dummie obj to each particle - distance operator- feed in calculated temperature into dataChannel per particle
- smokeRender uses the dataChannel to do the render effect
- powerful renderer included in SD2
