Welcome, everybody, to my brand new playthrough of Third Odyssey: Back to the Motherland. This is one of my absolute favorite EU4 mods of all time. I absolutely love it to bits. This mod’s basic theme is that the Byzantines go “we’re screwed” and just bugger of to the Americas with as much stuff as they can carry and build an empire there instead.

I’m going to be doing this series in a very specific way. I will be switching us back to Hellenic Paganism. Yes, you read that right. We will be switching back to worshipping the old Greco-Roman gods. Because the emperor and his court have realized something: this whole “Christianity” and “God” thing aren’t really working for us. The empire’s decline clearly began when the first emperor converted to Christianity.

Beyond that, though, we’re just going to see where things go. My favorite aspect of Paradox games has always been the emergent storytelling so we will just see where things go. There’s a reason, after all, why I’ve always felt that planning too much in Paradox games is a bit redundant and that’s because of their innate randomness.

This series will be taking the place of Megaman Battle Network as my new Sunday series for now. I do hope you will enjoy it!
