This Command Restores CS: Source’s Lost Graphics
In this video, I uncover why some Counter-Strike: Source maps in HDR mode have been missing their iconic shine — and how to fix it! Thanks to a helpful viewer tip, I learned it's due to missing cubemaps. With a simple console command trick, you can bring back that glorious 2006-era bloom and shiny lighting on classic maps like Dust, Dust2, and Inferno. Nostalgia restored!
Before running the below commands, don't run them online and also be aware that generating cubemaps causes a lot of flashing on screen so be aware of flashing images.
🔧 Fix commands (in console):
sv_cheats 1
building_cubemaps 1
buildcubemaps
Then reload the map.
