This Game Made Me Rethink JRPGs

There's some interesting history regarding how I've engaged with JRPGs dating as far back the Playstation 2 era with Final Fantasy X. It was my first Final Fantasy game and had an immense impact on my perception of the genre. After I completed Final Fantasy X for the first time, I struggled to find a game that recaptured the feel I experienced within in, especially because all the other games I tried featured battle and progression systems that were a little to complex for my own tastes. For years afterwards, I shunned the genre, refusing to touch anything that looked remotely similar. This all changed after I recently picked up Chrono Trigger for the first time. It simultaneously felt like the inspiration for Final Fantasy X, as well as an incredibly unique and endearing standalone experience that reshaped the way I now view the JRPG genre. Join me as I share with you the game that made me rethink JRPGs.
