This is my "lite" mic and lighting pro setup for Smule singing practice.
Note: This is a repost from the official JOOOSH instagram account, hence the square format and shot on a Insta360 Go camera (which is about the size of my thumb ...crazy!)
I suck at singing. They even named a singing app after me.
I use Screaming Mule (or Smule for short) to practice singing. This is my “lite” pro setup.
Lite because it's using 3.5mm connector type gear: The Zoom H1 recorder and the original Rode VideoMic. Sounds pretty good and good enough for Small. The best features of this setup is the smaller size, lighter weight (and therefore much easier to rig) and of course the microphone’s ability to cancel out background noise, as the shotgun mic picks up sound only from the front.
I’m in Hong Kong and all summer long I run a very noisy and big window box type air conditioner to deal with the subtropical heat and humidity.
Sometimes I run a handheld mic or a headset which have other pros and cons. I might make a video to explain these later on.
Thanks for watching and please head to my main channel, JOOOSH for some proper videos and music parodies.
