As time goes on finding retro games and consoles that are in working condition is becoming more difficult. Normally you might think that a quick operational check would let you know if the game in your hands is in good working order, but what about those games that decide to crash only at specific, seemingly arbitrary times?

This phenomenon is most commonly associated with CD based games, as a bad scratch on a crucial area of the disc could render certain parts of the game unplayable. However, it appears that even cartridge based games cannot escape this terrible fate. In this video we're taking a look at a copy of Pokemon Emerald that only crashes once you perform one particular action. Be aware of this sort of thing before spending lots of money on a retro Pokemon cartridge yourself!
