I had this game since it came out in 1989. Me and my father would play it all the time on Hard because we always thought it couldn't be beaten on the normal mode because we would use the stage select at the options screen to warp us to stage 5. Whenever we did that the game would start over after stage 8. I decided to revisit this issue and try to recreate that programming glitch and to my surprise not only does the game start over after stage 8 and you get sent back to stage 1. But the game becomes super hard. To add to all the craziness you have to play stages 5678 again before getting to stage 9. If you start on stage 5 on hard mode the game continues to stage 9 but on Normal it does not. (I knew I wasn't crazy but you can still beat the game on Normal. After the game is beaten you can select any stage on any difficulty. Initially only stages 1-5 are selectable in the options menu)
