Thunder Force VI - PlayStation 2 - Intro & Normal playthrough as Phoenix [HD 1080p 60fps]
Full playthrough / longplay / trueplay of Thunder Force VI on PlayStation 2 as the default ship the Phoenix. The two unlockable ships are the Rynex-R from Thunder Force IV and the upgraded version of the Phoenix the Syrinx (which the Phoenix automatically upgrades to after finishing stage 5). Not the hardest game in the series a few practice runs on normal and you can quickly finish the game. The ending is decided by the difficulty you finish the game, however if you want to unlock all the special reports then you need to finish all five difficulty levels one by one with the three different ships.
Sega's co-developed swan song to the series, could be describes as a Thunder Force best of collection. As it's more a remixed version of various stages from the earlier games jammed together on one disc. While a few of the stages have original ideas and boss fights, most have been borrowed from other games and this is a quick list of where they come from.
Jungle & Stage Boss (TF3 / Arcade)
Flame & Mid Boss (TF3 / Arcade) Stage Boss (TF5)
Ocean & Stage Boss (TF5)
Federation & Stage Boss (TF5) Remake of the City stage and tunnel boss
Battle Ship & Stage Boss 1 (TF4 same ship design also) Stage Boss 2 (TF5) Reworking using different ships
Fortress (TF5 Entrance section based on tunnel stage) Final Boss partly based on (TF3 / Arcade last boss)
While Thunder Force VI is disliked by some fans, it's an excellent shooter overall, but one of the weaker games in the Thunder Force series with it only really being better than the first two games. Sure the soundtrack isn't as good as the previous games and there isn't a lot of new content here for series veterans. What you get is a well put together 2D playing shooter with great 3D graphics and one that give the series a good send off. Bringing the series to a close, with Thunder Force VI. Will we see a Thunder Force VII? Look unlikely at present, the lack of a western release of Thunder Force VI didn't help in part due to a very late PlayStation 2 release. Thunder Force VI is one of a select number of games that support progressive scan while using component in other words it does 480p.
